In 1989, at nearly 40 years of age, I sat on a horse for the first time.
It was meant to be a riding holiday.
It became a turning point.
Karin and I had been entrepreneurs in the IT industry since 1983, working day and night. Horses entered our lives unexpectedly — and changed everything. Within months, we bought our first horse. Then the second.
Our priorities shifted.
Our perspective shifted.
Our understanding of leadership shifted.
And gradually, something new began to emerge.

The First Insight
In 1995, one of our employees was overwhelmed by stress and ready to leave the company.
We offered her a sabbatical — and invited her to work with us and the horses once a week.
There was no concept.
No model.
No theory.
Three months later, she returned to her role — clear, centered, and stable.

The Birth of HorseDream
In 1998, we entered the open market with what became known as HorseDream.
The name expresses two dimensions that modern leadership desperately needs:
The Horse — Reality
Presence. Clarity. Immediate feedback.
Horses live fully in the here and now. They respond honestly and without judgment.
The Dream — Vision
Expansion. Courage. Possibility.
The horse carries deep symbolic power — strength, freedom, transformation.
HorseDream unites both:

Building an International Community
In 2004, we founded EAHAE — the European Association for Horse Assisted Education.
What began as a network became a structured quality community.
Since 2009, membership has required qualification through authorized Train-the-Trainer seminars.
HorseDream became the methodological foundation.
EAHAE became the international framework.
A global movement had begun.

The Great Disruption — And a Turning Point
Then came 2020.
Covid restrictions in Germany stopped all in-person workshops.
For a concept built on physical presence and live interaction, this was a dramatic interruption.
In 2022, the restrictions ultimately led to the closure of G&K HorseDream GmbH.
After more than two decades of entrepreneurial structure, the company ended.
But the idea did not.
The concept did not.
The vision did not.
