The Future out of 30 Years of HorseDream

What happens when a horse becomes part of your question?

Thirty years ago, we opened a gate.
We did not know where it would lead.

There was no roadmap for thirty years of HorseDream, no plan for an international community, no certainty about what would grow from the first experiences of learning with horses.

There were people with questions.
And there were horses.
One seminar became another.
One conversation opened another door.
People carried something home with them.
New people joined.
New countries became part of the journey.
And somewhere along the way, a community appeared.

Today, after 30 years of HorseDream, the question is not simply:
What comes next?

Perhaps the more interesting question is:
What do we want to leave open for those who come next?

The horses know our history.

They have been part of this story from the beginning.
Different horses. Different people. Different countries. Different generations.

Again and again, a human enters an arena with a question — sometimes a question they can name, sometimes one they discover only through the experience.

The horses do not give us ready-made answers.
They make something possible.
A moment of recognition.
A change of perspective.
A question that stays with us.

And sometimes that question goes home with the person.

So after thirty years, we find ourselves wondering:
The horses know our history.
Do they know our future too?

The HorseDream Future Album

We collected stories from HorseDream seminars and turned some of them into songs.

They are stories of distance and nearness.
Of trust and uncertainty.
Of masks and authenticity.
Of people who expected one thing and experienced something else.

They are not songs about how leadership is supposed to work.
They are songs about moments in which something happened.

A horse followed.
A horse did not follow.
A carefully constructed system suddenly looked different.
Someone discovered a question they had not asked before.
Someone felt what they had previously only understood intellectually.

Dedicated to a new generation

The album is dedicated to Maiya Bukanova, the youngest member of our community and the youngest Licensed HorseDream Partner.
Maiya participated in her first HorseDream Partner License Workshop in 2016 at the age of eleven, together with her mother, Marina Bukanova. They repeated the workshop ten years later, surrounding the 19th EAHAE International Conference.

For us, that makes Maiya more than the youngest person in the HorseDream community.

She represents a question.
What will a new generation make of what began thirty years ago?
We don't know.
And perhaps we shouldn't.

Not a finished book of answers

Thirty years give us experience.
They give us stories, principles, methods, friendships, successes, mistakes and memories.
But experience can become limiting if we begin to believe that the future must look like the past.
Every generation has to enter the arena for itself.
Every new HorseDream Partner brings a different personality, culture, professional background and way of seeing the world.
And every horse creates a new situation.
The answer from yesterday may not be the answer tomorrow.
That is why the future of HorseDream is not a finished concept waiting to be implemented.
It is something that will emerge through the people, horses, questions, and relationships that become part of it.

The future is listening

What will it hear from us?
The things we tried to hold on to?
Or the things we learned to trust?
What should remain?
What should change?
What have we not yet seen?
Where will someone open the next gate?
We cannot answer those questions today.
But perhaps that is exactly the point.
Thirty years behind us.
The arena grows quiet.
A gate stands open.
Footsteps somewhere
we cannot see yet.
And the future
walks in.
